What to do in Gaucín

Gaucín has one of the most striking locations on the White Villages route. Situated at a height of 600m it has an agreeable climate for most of the year. Situated on a south-facing mountainside, it is protected from the cold north winds and benefits from the warmer coastal breezes. This climate coupled with the abundant rainfall in the spring and autumn means that Gaucín is surrounded by lush vegetation, Cork forests, Chestnuts, Oaks, Carobs and many other species typical of the Mediterranean region.
Gaucín is also surrounded by natural parks such as the Parque Natural de los Arcornocales, Parque Natural de Grazalema and Parque Natural Sierra de las Nieves and possibly in the future Parque Natural del Genal.

Gaucín’s location means that the best way to enjoy it is by walking through the streets appreciating the daily life and the village features such as the wrought iron gates, wooden doors and the colourful plants lining the streets. Above all the spectacular views that you get from many parts of the village, which make a dramatic backdrop.
